God, I Want to See the Lion

While spending some time with my granddaughter she noticed the screensaver on my phone and wanted to know about the lion, lamb and dove. I took a few minutes to explain them to her and then we happened into a church where I told here when she prayed she could ask for anything. Boy was I surprised by her request of God and absolutely shocked when it was answered a moment or so later!

God Will Move You

Every once in a while I wonder if God hears my prayers, sees my frustrations, understands my fear, or if he even knows I exist. I try to stay positive and do the “self-talk”, meditation, and relaxation techniques that are so frequently suggested.  Most of the time it only leads me to more questions, more frustration, and a whole lot less serenity.  Today as I was evaluating these thoughts it dawned on me….God moves constantly and often times we are so busy and self-absorbed that we do not even notice it.

Just In Time

One day while pacing around the apartment, I felt something like a silent scream welling up inside of me. When I finally let it out I heard myself say, “I need a band!” It was a bone-deep plea, a cry to something unseen and unnamed. More restless than ever, I couldn’t bear to stay home, so I threw on a coat and walked to Telegraph Avenue at the end of my block, intending to hitchhike to Sproul Plaza at the University of California a few miles away. Before I got there, though, I was disappointed to see two scruffy characters already standing there with their thumbs out. Great, I thought, I’ll never get a ride now.

Mary Margaret’s Big Coincidence

As we sat down to our meal he was sharing with me all the thoughts and feelings that he was having that day over certain issues.  I could tell he was agitated and fearful all at the same time.  He was talking fast and almost not making sense sometimes and obviously just not in a good mental spot.  As the meal was drawing to a close he was still not anymore calm than when our conversation had started.  The snow was lightly falling and I thought that possibly he really should not drive just yet.  I was quickly in my head and just asked for help for this man.  What happened next is what I consider to be a “God Shot”.
