Joy is the topic of many bible studies, meditative endeavors, yoga sessions, and personal conversations. I have often wondered what joy looks like, have you? I sometimes think that joy is an elusive state in our fast paced ever changing world. There are times when I get exasperated at trying to create happiness, joy, or pleasant feelings. It is just impossible…..or is it?
This is an unedited picture of my grandson at his uncle Eric’s wedding. I have looked at this picture many times over the past few years and every time I realize how genuine and heartfelt this dance was! To me this picture elicits genuine joy! Two children enjoying the moment with not a care in the world! Maybe that is why Luke 18:17 ESV says “Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.”

In review of this picture I noticed the innocence of these children. They are just doing what is coming natural in that particular moment in time. They are not worried about looking right, dancing properly, posing perfectly. What does that result in….perfection!! Think about that? Do we sometimes put so much emphasize on being “perfect”, dressing “perfect”, following the rules….that we miss our life? I personally think I have! Just wondering…comments welcome!
